Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER). Recognized as a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2005, DMIHER has evolved from its medical education roots to become a vibrant hub of multidisciplinary learning.
DMIHER has a rich history of nurturing future professionals, initially in the critical field of healthcare. The University awarded an 'A' Grade by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2013, placing it among the elite Deemed Universities in India. Designated as a Category-I Deemed University by the UGC in 2018. The University has successfully completed four cycles of NAAC reaccreditation, consistently earning the highest grade, including an A++ (CGPA 3.78) in its latest cycle, making it the top-ranked Health Science University in the country. In the NIRF rankings, DMIHER placed 42nd in the university category, 23rd in medical, and 24th in dental. It also achieved 3rd position nationally and 15th globally in SDG 3 in the Times Impact Rankings (SDG 3, 4, 5 & 17). In its maiden impact in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, DMIHER ranked 618th globally in medicine and dentistry, 773rd in other health disciplines, and 1001st overall. Nationally, it secured 12th in medicine and dentistry, 20th in other health disciplines, and 45th overall. In Times Higher Education World University Rankings Asia the university ranked 600+ in the overall category and 319th in Medicine and Dentistry in Asia, nationally it was ranked 77th overall and 17th in Medicine and Dentistry. Research Capability and Focus Area
DMIHER harbours a vibrant research culture and strives to become a ‘Research intensive’
University. It has fostered enabling ecosystem of developing equitable partnerships for
inter/transdisciplinary research. The University 13 Centre of Excellence and has created an
enabling environment and ecosystem for research with highly advanced facilities. The presence
of Biosafety Committee, NABH accredited Institutional Ethical Committees and CPCSEA
approved Animal Ethics Committee ensure stringent research Ethics and integrity. DMIHER has
published 6570 indexed scientific publications in last five years. DMIHER has been third highest
contributor for COVID–19 publications in the country. It has consistently been one of the top
institutes to receive ICMR-STS grants and PG thesis support numbering.
