About Us

Karnataka Samskrit University (KSU) was established in 2010 by the Government of Karnataka through the Karnataka Samskrita Vishwavidyalaya Act, 2009. The University is recognized by the UGC under Section 2(f), accorded 12(B) status of the UGC Act, 1956, and has earned the prestigious NAAC ‘A’ Grade accreditation, affirming its excellence in higher education, research, and institutional quality. KSU is the only university in Karnataka dedicated exclusively to the promotion and advancement of Samskrit, the world’s oldest living language. With its timeless legacy spanning Poetry, Logic, Grammar, Philosophy, Aesthetics, Science, Mathematics, and allied disciplines, Samskrit has shaped the foundation of global knowledge systems. The University’s mission is to preserve this heritage while exploring its relevance in the modern world through higher learning, research, and innovation. Academic programs at KSU cover a wide spectrum, including traditional Shastras, Samskrit language and literature, interdisciplinary studies, and career-oriented short-term courses. To strengthen its vision, the Government of Karnataka has allotted 100 acres of land at Kuduru, Magadi Taluk, Ramanagar District, where a modern campus is being developed to nurture future generations of scholars. KSU’s academic network includes three constituent colleges, two research centres, 10 aided and 20 unaided affiliated colleges, and four government colleges, along with 271 aided and 379 unaided Veda and Samskrit Pathashalas spread across the state. With 3,891 students on its campus and nearly 35,000 students in affiliated institutions, the University has emerged as a vibrant hub for Samskrit learning and research. Since its inception, KSU has successfully hosted nine convocations, conferring degrees upon thousands of graduates.
