Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut (formerly Meerut University, Meerut) was established as an academic hub, in the year 1965 under Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act no. XIII. The pioneering programmes, in 1969, adhered to the primary goal of knowledge dissemination. Henceforth, it owns locational responsibility in agricultural belt and blends pursuits of innovations in science and culture, reflecting in its curricula and teaching-learning programmes. The lush green campus of the University which sprawls over 221.1 acres of land with built-up area of approximately 37.40 acres. The University houses state of art buildings that are spacious and are well connected with asphalted roads and high mast street lights with lush natural greenery. The university affiliates 714 aided government and self-financed colleges/institutions, with more than 5.25 lakh students. The motto of the University ‘Yatra Satyasya Paramam Nidhanam & 39; (Where the truth has its supreme abode) is reflected in its vision and mission. The University mainspring orbits around student prosperity. It pioneered to implement National Education Policy-2020, exhibiting sensitivity through 88% revision of curricula in the last five years. The University campus offers variety of schemes and programmes, with scholastic titles. Assortment of 460 ‘Value-Added and Related Discourses for Higher Accountability to the Nation’, are grouped under the scheme ‘VARDHAN’. Experiential learning was up-scaled through 1893 projects in the last five years. The serious research involvement of the faculty and scholars has been awarded by Clarivate as the best state university and the best Woman researcher in India under Web of Science powered Research Excellence Citation Awards–2023. In April 2014. The University Grant Commission graded Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh as a Category-l University.
Area of Excellence
CCSU was recently honored with the Clarivate (formerly Clarivate Analytics) Citation Award in the state university category for outstanding research output over the past five years. It published 1000 research papers indexed in the Web of Science between 2017–2022, with an average citation impact of 1.35, surpassing the global average.
The university excels particularly in electronics & telecommunication, material science, applied physics, and computer science, with notable focus on security systems, supply chain, and crop science research. Research here spans across Agricultural Sciences (Genetics and Plant Breeding, Horticulture, Plant Protection), Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Toxicology).
Physical Sciences includes renewable energy, hydrogen storage, gas sensors, superconductors, biomaterials, sensors, energy storage, photocatalysis, antimicrobial technologies, wastewater treatment, photonics, Chemistry, and metamaterials.
Research Capability and Focus Area
The University supports research through well-equipped laboratories, a central instrumentation facility, and ample conferencing and experimental infrastructure. The Centre for International Cooperation (CIC) promotes global academic engagement via faculty/student exchange, joint training, research, and academic program development through MoUs with international institutions.

Spanning a sprawling 222-acre campus, CCSU is home to extensive facilities: well-equipped laboratories, a large library, engineering college (IET), hostels, auditorium, botanical and rose gardens, sports grounds, Gym and more.
