DIT University (DITU), erstwhile Dehradun Institute of Technology, is a private university near Dehradun in India, established by the non-profit Unison Group. DIT University has been established by Govt. of Uttarakhand vide Act No.10 of 2013 dated 15 February 2013 and is recognized by the UGC. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked it 129 among engineering colleges in 2020. DIT University (DITU) was established in the year 1998 with the name of Dehradun Institute of Technology. DIT got its status of State Private University in 2013 approved by the UGC. The University is known for offering more than 80 unique diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs across several departments. DIT University has programs in Engineering, Architecture, Design, Liberal Arts, Basic Sciences, Physical sciences, Pharmacy, Management Studies, Computing. DIT University's campus is located on the foothills of Mussoorie at a scenic location of Mussoorie diversion road. Dehradun is located 240 kilometers north-east of Delhi. The area of the DIT University campus is 25 acres. DIT University is part of the Association of Indian Universities and International Association of Universities. The programs offered by DIT University are recognized by the Council of Architecture, Pharmacy council of India, AICTE and many other councils of various countries from reputable organizations, such as the Nepal Engineering Council, AICTE, COA, PCI, and the university is 21001: 2018 ISO Certified. DIT University, Dehradun received QS-IGAUGE ‘DIAMOND’ rating for OVERALL EXCELLENCE and becomes 2nd in India to be awarded with Diamond rating in FACULTY QUALITY. With its more than 25 years of educational experience, DITU has developed healthy collaborations with ASSOCHAM, CII, FICCI, and Foreign Universities. Having a beautiful campus spread over 25 acres of land, DIT University has more than 270 core faculty members out of which 50% are the PhD holders.

Area of Excellence

The Centres of Excellence focus on basic and applied research on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Industrial Automation, Internet of Things, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones), Nano-materials, Functional Smart Materials, Land, water, air and environmental sustainability, etc. In addition, DIT University is a regional leader in discovery, design and delivery of novel drugs.

Research Capability and Focus Area

Uttarakhand is a border state rich with natural resources. Ganga and Yamuna, that originate in Uttarakhand Himalayas, are major sources of fresh flowing water for north India. Rare medicinal plants are found in the forests of Uttarakhand. DIT is developing modern technologies for rapid, but sustainable, development of this state.
