Osmania University Establishment: 1917. It is the seventh oldest in India, the third oldest in south India significantly contributed to the academic and economic development of the Country. The University' academic excellence is reflected in its numerous accreditations and rankings. It received a 'FIVE STAR' accreditation in 2001, followed by an 'A' grade in 2008 and an 'A+' grade in 2017 from NAAC. A+ Grade with 3.52 CGPA for 7 years with effect from 2017. The University has achieved notable international recognition, featuring in the "Emerging Economics Universities Ranking 2022" and among the "Top 250 Asian Universities" by Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking. It secured the 131st position in QS-2025 Southern Asia Ranking, placed in the 471-480 band in QS-2025 Asia University Ranking and listed in the 1201-1400 band in QS-2025 World University Ranking. UGC Graded Autonomy (Category - I). NIRF ranking: 43 (University Category), 70 (Overall Category) for 2024-2025. It was designated as a University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) in 2012, extended in 2017, and became a MoE-RUSA 2.0 supported University in 2019.
Situated on a sprawling campus in eastern Hyderabad, Osmania University operates as a multi-faculty, multi-disciplinary, and multi-locational institution. The university's International presence through the Office of the International Affairs by 419 students from 46 countries and academic collaborations with 36 national and 22 international institutions and universities. Osmania University offers various courses in 12 faculties and 56 departments.

Research Capability and Focus Area
As research is an integral part of the University, a number of institutes and centres have been created for the purpose. Their mandate is to carry out work in the frontier and emerging areas of various disciplines, strengthen and enrich teaching programmes (through their researches) undertake both consultancy and community impacting projects.
