About Us
IISER Kolkata (IISER-K), located near Kolkata was established in 2006, is under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. IISER-K is presently identified as one of the premier institutions of research and teaching in the country. It has now grown to 126 faculty members, distributed in seven academic departments, and presently a total enrolment of 1656 students (1018 BS-MS, 21 Master of Science, 129 IPhD and 488 PhD students), which includes 6 International students from SAARC and African countries. It has excelled in interweaving creativity of science and societal needs together. IISER Kolkata is recognized for its vibrancy, its academic ethos, faculty members of excellent academic repute, supportive non-teaching staff members and bright students.
