If you are reading this, then probably you have, or are considering the possibility of getting admitted into a prestigious Indian institute. This simple step by step guide will help you guide through the process. 

 

NOTE – Visa and passport are compulsory documents. The admission procedure can not be completed without them. 

 

STEP 1 - Results, Admissions and Concessions

Checking the result – Log in into your Study in India account, head over to the student dashboard, following the given link -  https://www.studyinindia.gov.in/admission/login. 


  1. If you’ve received admission, then the allotted institute name, discipline, program level, qualification, and specialization will be displayed. 

  2. If you haven’t received admission, then you shall receive a message on the dashboard, which will convey the same. 


Concessions are in the form of scholarships and fee waivers, set up by the Study in India program. You can avail either a fee waiver or a scholarship, but not both. Concessions are offered only to meritorious students. 

Fee waiver benefits – Fee Waivers are offered in the following categories. 


  1. G1 – 100% tuition fee waiver 

  2. G2 – 50% tuition fee waiver 

  3. G3 – 25% tuition fee waiver 

  4. G4 – No fee waiver 


Scholarship benefits – The Study in India program is offering scholarships, each valued at USD3500 to students, deserving of the Study in India scholarship. 

 

Institute status pending – It means that the institute is still evaluating your documents. Once the verification has been done, the final offer from the institute will be made to the student. 

Once the application is accepted, you will see 2 buttons on the dashboard. – Accept and reject. If you want to say yes, click on accept. If no, then click on reject. 


Offer letter – Once, you have accepted the admission. The institute will reach out to you with an offer letter, which will contain all the basic details about your course and the fee structure. The fees for the course needs to be paid as given by the institute, after having applied for the Student Visa tio India. 

 

 STEP 2 - Preparing to head to India 


Passport – Once, you have accepted the application. You will need a passport. You will need to upload the copy of the passport on the web site. If you do not have the passport, apply for the passport right now. Then, upload the application number and the necessary supporting documents. Get in touch with your respective embassies or Indian embassies in your countries to know more. 

 Booking your tickets On receiving a confirmation on your admission to an Indian institute with the Study in India program, be sure to book your flight tickets, as you’d be required to submit a soft copy of your travel proof with all necessary details. 

 

Indian Student  Visa – Visa is a travel document that admits a foreign national into India.


If you have applied for the Visa, you’ll need to share the following – 

1.    Copy of the application form 

2.    Application number 


Once you have received your Visa, you’ll need to upload the following - 


1.    The copy of the Visa

2.    Expiry date

3.    Visa type

 

 

STEP 3 - THE FINAL FEW 


FRRO – Any foreign national coming to India to study is required to register with FRRO. The registration needs to be done within 3 weeks of landing. For more information log on to - https://indianfrro.gov.in/eservices/home.jsp. 

 

Original documents to be carried – Do not forget to carry your original documents, which you have uploaded on the website (official transcripts) for the verification purposes. The admission can be canceled if you fail to submit any of the original documents to the institutes.
