About Us
The Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology And Sciences (SHUATS) is established under U.P. Act No. 35 of 2016, as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature. SHUATS is established and administered by the Ecumenical Minority Christian Society namely the Sam Higginbottom Educational and Charitable Society registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860 in the State of Uttar Pradesh.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shalom Institute of Health and Allied Sciences, SHUATS aims to bridge the gap between research and impact. The department strives to achieve novel solution for the diverse array of health problems and our activities rely on a comprehensive and holistic view. We develop and carry out cutting-edge research on the development of novel therapeutics ranging from drug discovery to formulation development by engaging collaboration with world leading institutions. Members of the department are highly dedicated to our research and educational missions. We teach Diploma in Pharmacy, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The department has well equipped laboratories for pharmacology and toxicology, pharmaceutics and drug delivery and pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry. In addition to didactic teaching, faculty provide laboratory training and mentoring to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The department has been ranked 56th on All India Ranking by National Institutional Ranking Framework in the year 2019 and 2020 consecutively. Significant numbers of students have qualified GPAT or GATE entrance examination and secured positions in prestigious Indian institutions. Our alumni have established pharmaceutical industries, e.g. Justia Neutra, Ormo Health Labs, Volhart Healthcare, etc.

Research Capability and Focus Area
1. Drug Design and discovery: design and development of various novel molecules against diseases
2. Natural Products Drug Discovery: identification, isolation, and characterization of natural products from plants
3. Pharmacological Bioassay: to test in-house developed molecules, such as, cytotoxicity, apoptosis, immune-histochemical assays
